As a pharmacist, I’ve spent years caring for patients, advocating for their safety, and paying attention to details that matter. That work has shaped the way I serve people. I listen closely, ask questions, and want the person trusting me to feel genuinely cared for.
Bluegrass & Beyond Travel grew from a desire to bring that same advocacy, thoughtfulness, and personal care to something else I love: helping people experience the world. To me, travel is more than a reservation or an itinerary. It’s a chance to spend meaningful time together, discover new places, and notice the beauty God has placed all around us—from the hills of Kentucky to destinations far beyond.
Hey, y’all!
I’m Karah. I was born and raised in Kentucky, where my love for Southern hospitality and the beauty of the Bluegrass State began. During my husband’s years in the military and government service, we lived in different parts of the United States. Those years deepened my love for this country and sparked my excitement for discovering what lies beyond the Bluegrass.
These days, my husband and I are raising two teenagers. Some of our favorite moments are spent cheering them on from the sidelines, playing board games, and simply laughing together. We believe the experiences we share as a family will stay with our children longer than anything we could buy them. Traveling gives us time to connect and slow down from the daily hustle and bustle. In addition, we hope to teach our children life lessons through experiencing different cultures and pointing them to the Creator of this world.
I love trying new things, especially when they come with a story to tell! So far, I’ve visited 38 states and 17 countries. I've survived the jungles of Vanuatu, paraglided off the Swiss Alps, and gone on an African safari. In the U.S., I've fished for salmon in Alaska, floated in a hot air balloon over Arizona, hiked numerous national parks, and gone whitewater rafting in Colorado. Some adventures have taken my breath away; others have scared the pants off me. All of them have deepened my love for exploring!
And did I mention I love trying new foods? For me, part of the joy of travel is experiencing the local food and culture. I love slowing down and taking it all in—the tastes, the scents, and the feeling of a place—while remembering that somewhere new to me is home to someone else. I often ask myself, “Would I like living here?” Wherever I go, I look for the wonder in everyday life.
And while I love an adventure, I treasure the quiet moments just as much: crocheting or hand lettering, sipping coffee while listening to the birds from our screened-in porch, or watching a gentle thunderstorm roll through. I notice the details. Whether I’m far from home or right here in Kentucky, I’m happiest when I’m taking time to notice the beauty around me and share it with the people I hold dear. I’ve learned that some of the most meaningful moments happen when we slow down enough to enjoy where we are.
My faith in Jesus Christ comes first. It has shaped the way I see people and the world around me. From the grandeur of mountains to a quiet Kentucky morning, creation reminds me how creative and majestic God is. His kindness, love, and grace give me hope and make me want to share that hope with others.
I want Bluegrass & Beyond Travel to be one way I shine His light: welcoming people warmly, serving them with honesty and care, and encouraging them to notice the wonder around them. More than anything, I hope my life points people toward Jesus.
